Autodesk Takeoff Integration

Updated over a week ago

We value your feedback and would love to hear about your experiences about Autodesk Takeoff Integration. Sharing your insights through a case study helps us enhance our services. If you're interested in contributing, please contact us at [email protected].

About the integration

One Click LCA now connects to Autodesk Takeoff, enabling you to perform carbon and life-cycle assessments, as well as generate Environmental Product Declarations, from data created with Autodesk Takeoff.

Autodesk Takeoff enables material quantity estimation based on the received 3D models and also 2D PDF drawings. As a result, this integration enables you to export material quantity data from Autodesk Construction Cloud projects without needing design authoring tools like Revit. This can be especially useful for developers, contractors, and project managers.

The key benefits of this integration are:

  • You can get access to your entire project Takeoff packages portfolio and easily create LCAs

  • You can use the more affordable Autodesk Construction Cloud tools vs. using all the individual full-fledged design software

  • You do not have to spend time familiarizing with the different design software

  • You do not have to locate and wait for the large BIM models to load

  • You can easily share projects with others via the platform

How do you set up the Autodesk Takeoff Integration?

Make sure you have the things listed below before starting:

  • One Click LCA account and license with Expert features or higher

  • An account with Autodesk Takeoff subscription

  • One Click LCA for Autodesk Takeoff integration added to your Autodesk Construction Cloud App

How can I access the integration?

To access the integration, you should first add the One Click LCA integration to your Autodesk Construction Cloud Account. To do this please follow the steps below:

1. Login to Autodesk Construction Cloud:

2. Go to "Account Admin" (only Autodesk Construction Cloud account admins can configure the additional apps).

3. Access "Apps". Search for the "One Click LCA for Autodesk® Takeoff" app and follow the steps to install it.

4. Once installed, the "One Click LCA for Autodesk® Takeoff" app will be present in the "My App" tab and can be used.

How to use the Autodesk Takeoff Integration?

The integration imports the bill of materials (created via Autodesk Takeoff packages) into the One Click LCA platform. Whether your quantity takeoff is based on 3D models or 2D drawings, all the content can be easily exported.

To do so, follow these steps:

1. Open your project in One Click LCA.

2. Choose your desired LCA tool.

3. Select 'Import from Takeoff'.

4. You will then be asked to log in to Autodesk Construction Cloud, use your Autodesk credentials and follow the prompts.

5. Authorize One Click LCA to get access to your Autodesk Takeoff data

6. Once authorized, you will be redirected to One Click LCA's Takeoff Integration webpage where you will be prompted to choose a Construction Cloud project & Autodesk Takeoff Packages:

7. Once you choose the scope you want to import, click on the 'Import' button at the bottom of the page. You will then be redirected to One Click LCA's Import Mapper.

Prerequisites

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) projects need to have Takeoff enabled

When landing on One Click LCA - Autodesk Takeoff integration page, you will be able to see all your projects from Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) tools.

However, you can import data from the ACC to OCLCA only for projects, for which the Autodesk Takeoff is enabled. Additionally, you should have access to use the Autodesk Takeoff on the project. This can be granted by the ACC project administrator.

If you decide to import data from the ACC project, for which the Autodesk Takeoff is not enabled, or you don't have access to it, you will be stopped from importing data to One Click LCA platform and an error popup will be shown (see below). Please revise your project selection in this situation.

Users need to have permission to view the Autodesk Construction Cloud files.

To export data from the Autodesk Takeoff to the One Click LCA, the Autodesk Construction Cloud users must have the "member level" access or higher with granted permission to view the relevant project files.

Known Issues

Error: Unable to create Bill of Materials. Please try again or contact One Click LCA support.

If users have the required permissions but are still unable to import data into One Click LCA, the issue may be related to the number of elements in the Takeoff package.

To resolve this, ensure the combined package including its types do not contain more than 230-240 elements from the 3D model. If the package exceeds this limit, it is recommended to split the package into smaller packages to comply with the element limit.
