SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material Integration

Updated over a week ago

The SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material integration is currently available as a demo version where users can test the import with predefined demo data. Integrating with your organization's own SAP data requires additional authentication setup and permission for One Click LCA to access your SAP S/4HANA Bills of Material. For more details, please contact us at [email protected].

Prerequisites to access the feature with demo data:

  • One Click LCA account

  • One Click LCA license that has the demo SAP integration feature enabled. One Click LCA can enable the feature upon request. For this, please contact us at [email protected].

Prerequisites to access the feature with your own data:

  • One Click LCA account

  • One Click LCA Enterprise license or a separate agreement that includes access to this feature

  • SAP S/4HANA account

  • Authentication arrangements so that users can access SAP data through One Click LCA. For more details, please contact us at [email protected].

One Click LCA now connects to SAP S/4HANA, enabling you to perform carbon and life-cycle assessments, as well as generate Environmental Product Declarations, from data that is accessible in the SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material.

At the moment, the SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material integration can be tested with demo data. Please note that the SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material integration must be configured individually for each company before it can be utilized with its own data.

SAP is an enterprise software suite that combines business processes such as finance, HR, and supply chain, allowing organizations to improve operations and make informed decisions. Its advanced platform, SAP S/4HANA, offers real-time processing and simplified data management, benefiting developers, contractors, and project managers by optimizing workflows and increasing efficiency.

One Click LCA connects to the standard bill of material endpoint of SAP S/4HANA on-premises or private cloud versions. Some configurations are required in the S/4HANA system to expose the standard API. API is available from version 2020 FPS02 onwards.

The key benefits of this integration are:

  • You can easily get access to the SAP Bill of Material and use it to create EPDs / LCAs

  • You can use SAP data without the need to fully familiarize with SAP software

  • You can directly import selected SAP data into the One Click LCA platform without having to spend time familiarizing yourself with import requirements

How do you set up the SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material Integration?

To use the integration with demo data, One Click LCA needs to enable the feature for your One Click LCA account. See the prerequisites section and contact support at [email protected].

To use the integration with your organization's SAP data, additional authentication setup is required based on your SAP authentication needs. Additionally, it is required to grant One Click LCA access to your SAP S/4HANA bill of materials through API. For more details, including licensing requirements, see the prerequisites section and contact support at [email protected].

How to use the SAP Integration?

The integration imports the bills of material into the One Click LCA platform. The import is based on search criteria and selecting desired data to import.

To use the integration, follow these steps:

1. Open your project in One Click LCA. See how to create a project here.

2. Choose your desired EPD/LCA tool.

3. Select 'Import from SAP S4HANA Bill of Material' in the input data dropdown. The option will be enabled only when the feature has been added the project's license.

4. You will then be redirected to the SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material integration interface, where you can choose to test the integration with demo data, 'Start import (demo data)'. This step will be replaced by SAP authentication step once the authentication settings are in place for your company account.

5. Next, you will be redirected to One Click LCA's SAP S/4HANA Bill of Material Integration webpage. At this stage, you will see two windows. The window on the left shows a list of elements filtered by the search criteria, while the window on the right displays the list of elements to be imported into the One Click LCA platform. You can:

  • Add single elements from the 'Search results' window to the 'Selected items' window.

  • Add all elements from the 'Search results' window to the 'Selected items' window.

  • Remove single elements from the 'Selected items' window.

  • Remove all elements from the 'Selected items' window.

  • Search for the elements.

  • Return to the project page.

  • View details of the selected data.

7. Once you have selected the scope you want to import, click the 'Import' button at the bottom right of the page. You will then be redirected to One Click LCA's Import Mapper.
