We’ve recently introduced a new feature in Carbon Designer 3D:
“Generate shapes with AI” — now available exclusively for Power Pack users.
This new feature uses generative AI to create automatically different design options based on a range of site and design constraints, helping you move from idea to concept faster than ever.
How does it work?
During the design creation process, at Step 2, you’ll now see the option to “Generate shapes with AI.” This feature lets you instantly generate four diverse building scenarios, tailored to your project’s specific parameters.
All you need to do is:
1. Define your key constraints:
Maximum gross floor area (GFA)
Site dimensions
Site constraints
Maximum site coverage
Minimum distances to site boundaries
Building constraints
Maximum depth of any building wing
Maximum length of a single straight façade
Maximum number of above-ground floors
2. Let the AI generate: Based on these inputs, the AI will create four different building shape proposals that respect your limits while maximizing space and design efficiency. Carbon Designer 3D will also create one design that is projected to be more optimized for carbon. If constraints don’t enable the desired building area, the area will be reduced accordingly. Additionally, if the constraints are too strict, the building shape variations will be typically limited to the more efficient square shape.
3. Explore & select: View the scenarios, compare designs and area, and choose the best fit.
4. Go deeper: Move forward and get instantly the early phase LCA analysis and the material quantities, and create easily variations with different assemblies or materials.
Why use it?
In early-stage design, speed and flexibility are key — and that’s where this feature shines. The tool offers you diverse options at once, allowing you to:
Accelerate early design phases
Explore more design alternatives faster
Get usable massings that are compliant with real-world rules
Start sustainability assessments right away
Who can access it?
This feature is available only to users with the Power Pack.
If you're a Power Pack user, go ahead and try it now — just head to Step 2 of the design creation flow in Carbon Designer 3D and click “Generate shapes with AI.”
