Group Materials As Constructions

Grouping of materials is available to Business and Expert license users. To save groupings as private constructions users require a company account and an Expert license.

This feature allows grouping individual resource inputs on the building material query of your design into a construction form data point. This feature enables improved inputs of readability and clearness of the building materials query. Constructions created by this feature can also be saved as private constructions for the company account for later use in other projects.

How do you group materials as a construction?

1. In the building materials query, select the materials by clicking the box on the left hand side of the data point.

2. Then click on 'Create construction' on the top left side of the building query page.

3. Name your group and set the reference quantity and quantity type for it.

4. OPTIONAL: Modify the default comments if you wish (these will be the date you created the group and the name of the project).

5. OPTIONAL: Add a description for the group if you wish. This is a larger text field and can hold a paragraph of information if desired.

6. Confirm the part of the building the group is associated with (note: this classification will differ depending on the tool you are using).

7. OPTIONAL: Specify which of your private classifications the group falls under (Expert feature).

8. Choose whether you want to group the materials for this project only or save the group as private construction.

Once your group is created, you can now change the material quantities without unbundling the entire group. This can be done by clicking on the quantity and manually editing. Please note, edited material quantities will no longer be linked to the quantity of the construction.

If you choose to create a private construction of the created group, you are still required to publish it for use within your company in the 'Private constructions' within your company account page.

Editing an existing construction

Right click on the construction name and a pop out menu will appear. Select "Edit construction".

It is recommended that the construction be set to unitary value, e.g. 1 m2, or whichever unit the construction has been set to.

This brings you to a window that allows edits.

You can now edit individual data rows, delete, or add additional resources by clicking on the "Add resource" button.

To delete a resource from the construction, right click on the resource, and the option to do so will be available.

Changes will be indicated by a green triangle on the top right corner of the box which was edited.

The "Save" button will be activated upon any change in the construction.

To make the change complete and the construction to reflect the new amendments, click on "Save", otherwise "Cancel" to undo all changes.

Please note that for quantity with 3 decimal places or more, this will be reflected as 0. This information is however still captured. In the example below, the plaster mortar's quantity has been set to 0.003 m2.

Once the construction is saved, you will see the quantity in the building materials section.

When the construction is in use and the quantity scaled up, the quantity is also scaled up accordingly.

If you are using a tool that requires scheme specific classifications for each resource, this is not available for configuring in the editing feature. Edits will need to be done in the building materials section.

Changing the classification of the construction will change all of the classification for the resources that make up the construction.

You can still individually edit the classification for each row and these will persist after saving the changes.
