EPD Scenario Documentation

This article describes how scenario documentation is reported in One Click LCA's EPD Generator.

Updated today

One Click LCA's EPD Generator makes reporting scenario documentation in your EPD streamlined, as well as compliant.

Data for the life-cycle stage description and the scenario documentation is entered in a single, intuitive section for each life-cycle stage in the EPD Description section.

For each input field, there is helpful guidance that you can expand or collapse as needed:

The data you enter into the software is then auto-populated into your EPD document, ready to submit for verification.

In addition to the data entered in the EPD Description of the software, it is important to note some other key inputs which facilitate automation in the background and ensure your scenario documentation is reported accurately.

Datasets: The resource names and emission factors for some of the datasets you use in your LCA model are listed automatically in the scenario documentation where this information is required. For example, in the Manufacturing energy (A3) and Transport (A4) scenarios, shown in the screenshot above.

Declared unit: In this section there are a number of mandatory fields.

The values reported here are also used for background calculations for scenario documentation. For example, the Bulk density of transported products in A4 (also shown in the earlier screenshot) is calculated using the below formula:

(Mass of declared unit + Mass of packaging) / Volume of transported product

Output mass type: At end-of-life (EOL), the output mass type dropdown field is essential for calculating the quantities of materials going to re-use, recycling, energy recovery, and disposal.

Once the output mass type is correctly selected, the EOL scenario documentation table to be auto-populated with the correct masses for each recovery or disposal route:

Please note: Previous sections used for life-cycle descriptions and scenario documentation are still present in the software at the bottom of the EPD description section. They are locked from edits and marked as outdated, however, any data entered there is retained so that relevant information can simply be copied and pasted into the new fields.
