PAS2080 Infrastructure

Updated over a month ago

The PAS2080 Infrastructure tools are made in compliance with PAS2080 - the world's first specification for managing whole-life carbon in Infrastructure.

We offer three calculation tools:

  • Infrastructure carbon, PAS2080:2023, which allows to use both EN+A1 and EN+A2 data and reports GWP emissions only.

  • Infrastructure carbon, PAS2080:2016, which allows to use EN+A1 data and reports GWP emissions only.

  • PAS 2080 for HS2 tool, which allows to use EN+A1 data and reports on a range of environmental indicators and HS2-specific requirements.

Important: The PAS2080:2023 is a newest standard that adopts the infrastructure carbon assessment following BS EN 17472:2022. This means that A0 is within the scope for assessment.

Life-Cycle & Results Scope

The calculation includes the life cycle modules of A0 (for PAS2080:2023), A1-A5 and B1-B9, C1-C4, and D. The displayed results depend on your purchased PAS2080 tool.

  • Infrastructure carbon, PAS2080:2023, reports on GWP-fossil, GWP-LULUC and GWP-biogenic storage in kg CO2e

  • Infrastructure carbon, PAS2080:2016, reports on Global Warming in t CO2e.

  • The PAS2080 for HS2 tool, reports on a range of environmental indicators in addition to several circularity indicators.

Data Scope

  • Infrastructure carbon, PAS2080:2023, allows to use both EN+A1 and EN+A2 data

  • Infrastructure carbon, PAS2080:2016, allows to use EN+A1 data

  • The PAS2080 for HS2 tool, allows to use EN+A1 data

Assessment Scope

There is no fixed scope to which elements need to be included in the assessment, they depend on your project.

Create a project and select the right calculation tool

Create a building project and select your purchased PAS2080 tool as the chosen calculation tool.

Create your first design and set up your LCA parameters.

More information on that is here: Selecting Project Parameters

Input required material data

Fill in your project information in One Click LCA by entering the design either manually or by importing your data (see different import options here; guidance for data import can be found here). If you need help finding the right datasets for your building materials, check our guidance pages here.

Earthworks and mass hauling can be reported under its own tab, material information should not be added to that tab.

When you enter materials to Construction Materials tab, the default impact stage of these inputs is related to is the product stage A. However, if you want to specify the stage of environmental impacts yourself, it is possible to change the 'Impact stage' from the drop down menu. This allows the user to create constructions with maintenance, repair and site work under the same section.

Fill in the Construction site Operations

Fill in your emissions related to the construction process.

Fill in the Use Phase emissions

Fill in your Use Phase emissions, this includes B1-B3, B6-B9. These are annual emissions. More information on B2 & B3 here: Maintenance and Repair Data (B2 & B3).

The PAS2080 tools additionally report on B8 (Other Operational Processes) and B9 (Users Utilisation of Infrastructure), both of which are extension modules from PAS2080. Alike the other use-phase emissions these are annual emissions and have to be filled in manually.

Fill in the Calculation Period

This is required to calculate replacements and end-of-life emissions.

Review the results and download the results report

Download the full results from your designs results page, selecting 'More actions' in the top right hand corner.
