Since January 2023 new licenses requested by universities are free of charge. We have changed our offering to ensure that enough universities are including Life-Cycle Assessment in their curriculums. Once the license is created, a tutor manages the license. The tutor will have a license key that will be given out to the students. With this license key, you can start one new project on the university license. Each project is licensed for 1 or 2 semesters. It is possible to start a new project but no data transition from one project to another is possible.
What is included in the Coursework Licenses for Universities?
There is only one offering for coursework licenses.
A locally relevant Life-Cycle Assessment carbon tool
Expert features (Features requiring the use of the company account or API are not supported, such as the Sending back data to BIM and Private Data features)
New Data Input Page as default (if calculation tool compatible)
While we offer BIM integrations, we do not offer BIM tools. However, Autodesk Revit offers a free student license and Simplebim also offers a free trial. Both BIM tools have One Click LCA integrations. You can find how to download and use integrations here: One Click LCA BIM integrations.
Students are not eligible for customer support. Questions go through your tutor.
How do you get access to a coursework license?
Your university will need to have requested a free coursework license
You will need to register an account on the One Click LCA platform
You will need to create a building project
You will need to activate your project
Step 1. Your university will have to have requested a coursework license
To use One Click LCA for coursework or research, a license will need to be requested here.
Step 2. Register an account on the One Click LCA platform
If your university has a license you will need to register your own account. Please use your educational email address for this so that your tutor can recognize you easily.
Navigate to our website and create an account on the One Click LCA platform. Do not forget to activate your account by clicking the link in your inbox. You can also register an account by clicking this link
Step 3. Create the right type of project & activate it
Create your project
Depending on what license your university holds on the One Click LCA platform, create the correct type of project by selecting '+Add'. It may say you do not have a license, however, this does not restrict project creation.
Click on 'Enter license key'
Fill in the license key, click on 'activate license'
Activating this project will ensure you can start with your calculations and the tutor will have access to your project. After activation, you can access the project for 1 or 2 semesters, depending on the agreement.
Make sure you do not start a trial or a Planetary project.

Important notice: Students using the coursework educational license do not have access to email or call support. All guidance is available in the Customer Support Centre. Coursework educational license allows only the main user to use email support and customer kick-off training can be purchased additionally.
Frequently Asked Questions
Students are asking to join my company account, why is this happening?
With the educational licenses, there is no benefit for students joining your company account. The private data-related features are only relevant to the course tutors.
My students have started a trial or planetary account, what can I do?
Explain to the students that they will need to activate their project with the license key you have provided them. Projects linked to trials or planetary cannot be linked to the educational license anymore. The student would have to start a new project.
My students have created their project with a free student license, how can I access the data?
Tell the students to create a new project, activate this with your provided license key, and copy their data into this new project. They can do this with the 'copy data from other projects' feature or manually input / import the data into the new project.
I have two licenses and I cannot get students to activate a project on my research license.
Students can only activate projects with the educational license, research licenses cannot be used by students.
I have added my students to the license as a user, however now I do not have access to their projects.
Do not add students to your license, ask them to activate their projects using the license key instead. They do not need to be listed as users on your license for this.
