EPD Usage Analytics - in your projects

Updated this week

EPD Usage Analytics provides architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms with a high-level view of how specific material choices and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) shape the carbon performance of their entire project portfolio.

Instead of looking at EPDs one project at a time, this tool aggregates data across all your active and past projects. It helps sustainability leads and design directors identify which materials are driving decarbonization and which are consistently contributing to higher emissions.

The tool turns fragmented project data into strategic intelligence, allowing firms to standardize high-performance material choices and provide evidence-based design guidance.

Access options

EPD Usage Analytics is part of the AEC Analytics Pack Add-on, available to AEC customers of One Click LCA.

To activate this feature or learn about the AEC Analytics Pack, please contact your Account Manager, Customer Success Manager or email [email protected].

Key benefits

  • Identify Material Trends: See which specific products and EPDs are most frequently specified across your firm’s portfolio.

  • Optimize Design Guidance: Use real-world data to identify "low-carbon winners" and create internal lists of preferred materials for design teams.

  • Track Net Zero Progress: Quantify how material selection is contributing to your firm’s 2030 commitments or challenges like SE 2050 and AIA 2030.

  • Spot Emission Hotspots: Identify recurring high-impact materials that are driving up the carbon footprint across multiple projects.

  • Data-Driven Procurement: Provide procurement teams with evidence of which sustainable materials are most effective in practice.

Who it is for

EPD Usage Analytics is designed for AEC firms looking to operationalize their sustainability data. It is particularly useful for:

  • Heads of Sustainability & ESG: To report on firm-wide carbon reduction and back up public commitments with hard data.

  • Design Directors & Principals: To see which studios or regions are successfully implementing low-carbon material strategies.

  • LCA Specialists & Project Managers: To benchmark new projects against the firm’s historical material performance.

Getting started

1. Log in to One Click LCA Access the Analytics tab from your main navigation bar. If you have the AEC Analytics Pack, you will see 'EPD Usage Analytics in your projects' as an option.

2. Explore the Portfolio Dashboard View a consolidated list of all EPDs used across your projects, ranked by frequency of use and total carbon impact.

3. Filter by Region or Studio Use filters to see if certain offices are utilizing more sustainable materials than others, or to compare material performance across different building types (e.g., Schools vs. Offices).

4. Analyze Impact vs. Usage Identify "High Usage, High Impact" materials. These are your biggest opportunities for carbon reduction through better substitution.

5. Export Insights Export your findings to include in annual sustainability reports or to share as "Best Practice" guides for your design teams.

Managing your data

EPD Usage Analytics automatically pulls data from the projects within your organization's account.

  • Automatic Updates: Your dashboard refreshes as project teams update their designs and select new materials.

  • Privacy: Data is kept internal to your organization, allowing you to see exactly which projects are using specific materials.

Frequently asked questions

Who can access EPD Usage Analytics for AEC?

It is available to users with a standard Designer license or above, provided the organization has purchased the AEC Analytics Pack.

How does this differ from the Manufacturer version?

The manufacturer version shows how external users interact with a specific manufacturer's products. This AEC version shows how your firm uses all types of products across your own private projects.

Is there a trial available?

Yes, we frequently run trial programs for AEC Majors with high project volumes. Contact your Account Manager to see if your firm is eligible for the current trial cycle.

Can I see which specific project used a certain EPD?

Yes. Unlike the manufacturer view (which is anonymized), the AEC version allows you to drill down into your own project data to see where specific materials were applied.
