What's new in One Click LCA in April 2025 (Release 2)

Updated over a week ago

Update Highlights

Latest updates relevant to you

Enhance your early design decarbonization process with Carbon Designer's new building shape options: L-shaped and E-shaped models, easily convertible to F, T, or U. This expanded flexibility allows for more precise carbon assessments that reflect your project's unique geometry.

Based on your feedback, we've rolled out new and improved Word reports in our Building LCA tools, starting with Level(s), GLA/RICS Whole Life Carbon, and Klimatdeklaration tools. You'll now experience significantly faster report generation, with a more concise format and clearer presentation of results.

You can now work with significantly larger datasets in One Click LCA projects. To ensure you can still get your results quickly, we've optimized report generation for these larger datasets, starting with Level(s), GLA/RICS Whole Life Carbon, and LEED International tools. This means you'll experience faster, more reliable report generation, even for your most complex projects.

Product LCA & EPD updates

Exported Energy: More precise energy flow analysis

We've split the "Exported energy" category into "Exported Energy: Thermal" and "Exported Energy: Electrical." This enhancement provides a more detailed and accurate representation of energy flows in product LCAs and EPDs, improving the precision of environmental declarations.

Alignment of biogenic carbon balancing with Eco Platform standards for EPDs

To ensure EPD compliance with Eco Platform, we've removed biogenic carbon balancing from the following stages in End-to-End (E2E) tools: A2, A4, A3, A5 (excl. packaging), B4 (excl. A1, B4 production loss/waste/packaging/ancillary materials), B6, C1-C4, and Module D. This enhances EPD acceptance and credibility in the European market.

Streamlined PEP EPD submission

The "Download result summary" feature now aligns with the latest PEP template for 2025, streamlining the process of submitting results and eliminating the need for manual Excel file editing.

The Concrete End-to-End tool now offers greater flexibility and accuracy in data input, particularly for users in regions where standard classifications may not apply. Users can now select "Other" for inputs such as compressive strength class, strength evaluation days, and exposure class, and provide their free text input.

Save time and effort with our new Pressure Fittings and Ready-mix Concrete for NRMCA templates. Benefit from updated templates for Red mud cement, Valves and fittings, Loading dock system, Mineral wool sandwich panel, Paint, Pipe coupling grip, Pipes, Polyester geogrid, Polyester-based resin composite, Window—PVC frame, Window—aluminium frame, and Window—window frame.

These updated and new templates offer a more efficient starting point for your EPDs, saving you valuable time and effort.

Plugin updates

The latest One Click LCA plugin for Archicad 28 is engineered to provide a smoother, more accurate, and more efficient LCA workflow. This enhanced plugin ensures seamless compatibility with Archicad 28, including both Windows and Mac (Apple Silicon) versions.

A key improvement is the correct export of quantities, even for objects with openings in Design Options, resolving a previous issue and ensuring more reliable data for your calculations. Furthermore, the plugin provides improved data handling with warnings for missing or invalid profiles, prompting users to assign the correct profiles and ensuring accurate data export.

Logic has also been added to utilize alternative quantities for objects when the main quantity is unavailable, further enhancing the robustness of your data. Ultimately, this updated plugin minimizes errors, saves you time, and provides greater confidence in your LCA results within your Archicad 28 workflow.

The latest One Click LCA plugin updates for Rhino and Grasshopper deliver practical improvements for your LCA workflows:

  • Enhanced Issue Resolution: Integrated error logging simplifies troubleshooting, saving you time.

  • Streamlined Grasshopper Use: The expanded 'Select LCA Profile' component improves efficiency.

  • Direct Data Integration: Gross Internal Floor Area can now be directly exported to the One Click LCA platform.

  • Reliable Support: Updated links ensure you have access to the latest guidance.

  • Improved Data Access: The issue preventing private data access in the Rhino plugin has been resolved.

Local updates

North American users of One Click LCA now benefit from an improved and much faster interface with access to the LCA for LEED, US (TRACI), and Life Cycle Carbon - North America (imperial units) tools. This update also allows adding over 10 times more data to your designs.

Database expansion

The addition of 38 new generic datasets, including those for volume control dampers, broadens the scope of available data, enabling users to model a wider variety of project components and scenarios.

LCA Commons 2023 update available in EPD tools

The LCA Commons database, an open-access source of U.S.-focused Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data from various government agencies for LCA studies, has been updated to version 2023 in EPD generator tools.

This update doubles the database size and incorporates the EF3.1 characterization method, offering a broader range of up-to-date and environmentally relevant data for more accurate and comprehensive calculations. The updated database is available in new EPD tools compatible with EF3.1 characterization factors, such as the EPD Hub v3 tool.
