What's new in One Click LCA in January 2025

Updated this week

This release is packed with exciting new features and improvements designed to boost your productivity and streamline your sustainability workflows! We've enhanced our tools with powerful AI capabilities, expanded our database with valuable new data, and made significant updates to our EPD generators and national calculation tools.

Release highlights

  • Experience faster, more intuitive data imports with multi-selection, automatic unit conversion, and comment fields.

  • Streamline EPD management with updated End-to-End generators, new templates, and an automated Quality Checker.

  • Manage your Bill of Materials more effectively using the new Lists feature in Materials Compass.

  • Ensure data accuracy with the automatic update to Ecoinvent 3.10.1 across all tools.

  • Stay compliant with local regulations using updated tools for France (RE2020), Estonia, Italy (Level(s)), and California (CalGreen).

  • Access expanded data including 6,201 new industry datasets and the latest OKOBAUDAT version.

Platform & software updates

The data import process has been upgraded to boost productivity:

  • Multi-selection: Select multiple rows at once to map, delete, or ungroup resources in a single click (requires shared filtering criteria).

  • Automatic Unit Conversion: Quantities and units now automatically adapt to match your project's settings (e.g., metric files seamlessly convert for imperial projects).

  • Direct Commenting: Add comments to specific rows during import, even if the source file lacks a dedicated 'comment' column.

  • Enhanced UI: Enjoy a clearer workflow with improved visibility of row counts and remaining items during the combine step.

  • Bill of Materials Management: The new Lists feature allows for comprehensive management of your Bill of Materials (BOM), including adding quantities and units.

  • Manufacturer Pages: Companies can now claim and manage public Manufacturer Pages to showcase their global EPDs and sustainability efforts.

  • Lead Generation: Manufacturers can now capture sales leads directly from their product pages and EPDs.

Security improvements

To enhance account protection, mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be introduced for new accounts later this month, adding a critical layer of security against unauthorized access.

Starting in February, the classic Excel import process will no longer be supported for building/infrastructure and business licenses. The new import system offers superior performance and efficiency. Users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated process now.

Product LCA & EPD Updates

End-to-End EPD Generators updated to Ecoinvent 3.10.1

All End-to-End verified EPD generators have been updated to use the latest Ecoinvent 3.10.1 data and EF 3.1 characterization method. This update ensures that your EPDs rely on the most current and accurate environmental data available.

Note: Ecoinvent 3.10.1 replaces version 3.10 across all existing projects, constructions, and data lists to fix known bugs and improve data quality.

Instant feedback with EPD Quality Checker

The new EPD Quality Checker helps you create better EPDs by identifying errors before verification.

  • Automated Checks: The tool scans for mass balance, biogenic carbon balance, and energy balance issues.

  • Seamless Integration: Access feedback directly from the result page or during EPD Hub submission.

  • Mandatory for End-to-End: Users of End-to-End generators must address flagged issues before submission. (Available to users with the 'EPD Hub v3 tool' and 'Expert or above'.

Updated EPD templates

Templates have been updated for the following categories to ensure compliance:

  • Aggregates and stone products (gravel, natural stone, stone slab)

  • Asphalt and Bitumen membranes

  • Cement, Building Lime, and Cement Plaster

Local updates

France: RE2020 regulatory update

The RE2020 tool has been updated following a new decree affecting regulatory thresholds:

  • Permits after 01.01.2025: Users must recalculate thresholds on the "Building description" page and use the new RSET 2024.E1 file for compliance.

  • Permits before 01.01.2025: Continue using RSET 2022.E3; thresholds remain unchanged (exceptions apply for classified heat networks, see the list here).

Estonia: Updated calculation tool (BETA)

A new BETA calculation tool is available for the Estonian market. It aligns with the latest regulations and utilizes the required Estonian (EHEA) database. Full reporting capabilities will be added in a future update.

Italy: Extended Level(s) indicators

The Level(s) tool now includes additional EN15804+A2 indicators, enabling users to pursue assessments for the Italian Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM).

The CalGreen tool now generates a comprehensive single design report for Pathway 3 compliance. This report includes GWP values, threshold comparisons, overall embodied carbon, and full LCA results, streamlining the submission process.

Database expansion

The database now includes 6,201 new industry datasets, featuring the latest version of OKOBAUDAT.

An additional 38 generic datasets have been added, specifically focused on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and machine operations.

Ecoinvent 3.10.1 is now available and automatically replaces 3.10 datasets in new EPD tools to ensure the highest data quality standards. Find the ecoinvent announcement on why 3.10.1 was released here.
