What's new in One Click LCA in September 2025

Updated over a week ago

Update Highlights

  • Achieve BREEAM credits faster with new BRE-validated tools for BREEAM v7 and UK residential v6.1, supporting full Mat 01 and Mat 02 credits with automated reporting.

  • Standardize imports across teams with company default mappings, giving Expert license users organization-wide control over import settings.

  • Benchmark performance across projects with portfolio analytics, consolidating design data into one exportable view for consistent tracking and strategic reporting.

  • Improve accuracy during import with the new IFC viewer, which displays 3D models and links elements directly to resource data.

  • Simplify reporting with RICS summary reports that now cover multiple building designs for whole life carbon assessments.

Building & Infrastructure LCA updates

BRE-validated calculation tools are now available for BREEAM International and UK v7, as well as UK residential v6.1. They support LCA calculations with both generic and EPD data, provide full credit potential for Mat 01 and Mat 02, ensure compatibility with EN 15804 A1 and A2 standards, and generate automated embodied carbon and detailed LCA reports.

These are the first officially verified tools for BREEAM v7, with submissions accepted from September 2025.

Expert license main users can now set company-wide default mappings for data import. The defaults override individual or AI-generated mappings, ensuring consistent data handling, reducing duplication, and lowering the risk of errors across projects.

Portfolio Analytics enables portfolio-level LCA management

The new Portfolio Analytics tool consolidates project and design data into a single table that can be filtered and exported, with key performance metrics summarized for review. This supports consistent tracking, portfolio-level benchmarking, and stronger foundations for strategic reporting and decision-making.

The data input interface has been updated to make resource management simpler and more accurate. Action buttons are now easier to use, constructions can be created directly from the query level with hover-over help, and quantity and thickness values are rounded in the main view while full precision remains available in edit mode. These changes streamline navigation, reduce visual noise, and improve assessment accuracy.

Smarter filters improve accuracy and compliance

New search filters prevent the use of expired or non-compliant data by excluding outdated datasets and flagged resources. Project EPDs can now be filtered separately, and a program filter provides direct access to One Click LCA proprietary datasets. These updates make it easier to select valid inputs and deliver consistent, reliable results.

The AI Plausibility Checker is now available in additional tools, automatically reviewing results against typical benchmarks to flag unusual values. This helps catch errors earlier, reduce inaccurate outputs, and improve overall data quality.

Carbon Designer 3D designs are now accessible across all tools within the same project. Designs are recalculated automatically when added to a new tool, with notifications shown in the interface. This improves flexibility across project phases, maintains consistency across tool versions, and keeps designs usable even if a specific tool is retired.

Materials Compass now includes additional data points to support better material selection. Global warming potential values are displayed in all available units, carbon clouds provide quick climate impact visualization, and popularity indices indicate dataset usage trends. These updates make it easier to compare options, understand market relevance, and select materials with confidence.

Coming soon! This feature is scheduled to arrive in an update on September 30th.

Product LCA & EPD updates

The new data import interface now supports CarbonMinds datasets for customers with unlimited access rights, expanding the range of high-quality data for mapping and input. Manufacturing users with limited Ecoinvent licenses can also use the new interface, with access restricted to licensed datasets and AI mapping disabled by default to maintain control and clarity. The legacy import remains available during the transition to ensure workflow continuity.

Ecoinvent 3.11 expands dataset coverage in EPD Hub v3

Ecoinvent 3.11 is now supported in EPD Hub v3 and other tools, alongside Ecoinvent 3.10.1. A dedicated datalist type and private construction type have been created, and the data is also available in the Manufacturing Site feature. This ensures access to the most up-to-date datasets for accurate and compliant EPD generation.

Improved formatting in EPD reports

Formatting and cosmetic changes have been applied to EPD reports across all tools to improve readability, usability, and stability.

Plugin updates

An IFC viewer is now embedded in the import mapper, allowing 3D models to be viewed directly during data mapping. Bidirectional interactions link elements in the model with the resource table, and element properties are displayed for added context. This improves accuracy and supports more informed mapping decisions.

This update is expected to launch within one week of the main September One Click LCA update.

Vectorworks is now integrated with One Click LCA, allowing project data to be exported from Vectorworks and imported via Excel. The integration supports 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and open BIM workflows, and is available from Vectorworks version 25 onward.

Local updates

The RICS summary report now supports projects with multiple building designs. Reports are generated using the official RICS 2nd edition template, enabling compliant whole life carbon reporting for multi-building assets and simplifying submissions at portfolio level.

The new data input interface is now supported in the Finnish Low Carbon Assessment (12/2024) tool and Denmark’s BR25 compliance tool. This improves workflow consistency and usability across Nordic regulatory tools, reducing manual effort and supporting national compliance requirements.

Database expansion

Expanded database coverage for broader and more accurate modeling

295 new generic resources have been added, including 185 transportation datasets for the RICS v2 tool and AUS/NZ-specific transport and end-of-life data from the AusLCI database.

3,014 new EPDs and 3,067 industry-average datasets from DEFRA 2025 are now available, expanding coverage for widely used materials and processes.

More complete assessments with new LCI databases

The WEEE LCI database, with around 900 datasets on electronics end-of-life processes, and the CEPE 2024 LCI database, with around 370 paints and chemicals datasets, are now integrated into EPD tools. Access to CEPE datasets requires CEPE membership, which can be facilitated through One Click LCA.
