Update Highlights

Platform & software updates

Reorder rows in the new data input*

The new data input experience now supports drag-and-drop row management and persistent row ordering across designs.

Users can:

  • Reorder individual rows

  • Reorder constituent rows within constructions

  • Move rows between grouped sections such as Building Parts or Categories

Persistent row order is shared across all users working within the same design.

*Row reordering will become available in late July, following this software release.

Improve search relevance in the new data input

The new data input search now returns more relevant results for text searches. Users can also search directly using the following product identifiers:

  • CAS Registry Number

  • INIES identifier

  • INIES serial identifier

  • Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)

  • Manufacturer's product number

  • NOBB classification number

  • E-number (European food additive identifier)

  • RSK number

Stay focused with a more continuous data input workflow

Several usability improvements streamline day-to-day work in the new data input experience:

  • Search state now persists throughout the session, including filters, search terms, and results

  • New rows generated through actions such as duplicate, replace, or unbundling now appear directly after the active row*

  • The interface automatically scrolls to newly created rows after refresh*

  • New resources added from search are placed at the bottom of the table*

  • Reduced whitespace around page headers increases interface compactness

Building & Infrastructure LCA updates

Sustainable Planner is a new tool for early-stage design decisions, before a building model exists.

Where Carbon Designer 3D focuses on embodied carbon, Sustainable Planner takes a wider view: wind flow, sun exposure, thermal comfort, microclimate analysis, and carbon signals together, from the first massing, with no BIM model or specialist workflow required.

Users can define a site, and the tool proposes and compares design options against local planning constraints. The strongest concepts can then move into Carbon Designer 3D or ENVI-met for deeper analysis.

Carbon Designer 3D now supports importing IFC files. This is released as a BETA given the wide variety of BIM models and authoring tools. Tools like Revit or ArchiCAD classify walls, slabs, and roofs automatically, while others, like SketchUp, require manual classification. Unclassified elements can cause import problems.

For best results, IFC storeys, walls, and floor or roof slabs should be classified correctly, with external elements that share these same classes (site slabs, terraces, retaining walls, etc.) stripped out before importing. More information will be added in the customer support center close to the release time.

*IFC import will become available in early August, following the July software release.

Calculation details of emissions can now be viewed entirely for any LCA stage. Viewing the calculation mechanics is no longer limited to a sub-category level; users can now follow the full audit trail in the main view for each LCA stage, across all of its sub-stages.

Access the new data input interface for more tools

The new data input interface now supports the DGNB resource passport tool and LCA for BREEAM UK IMPACT-compliant projects.

Product LCA & EPD updates

The new Data Quality Rating (DQR) popup lets users view and edit data quality scores on main datapoints and transport sections directly from the DQR column's pill icon. A notification confirms the updated score when the popup closes, and DQR values are saved automatically with the project.

The Background Report now includes a three-column DQR table with full criteria export, supporting EN 15804+A2 compliance documentation.

Import product data faster and more precisely

Several improvements make importing data faster and more accurate, from initial setup through to final grouping:

  • Filter sources before mapping: a new Filters panel lets users constrain by LCI database and version (e.g., Ecoinvent 3.10.1/3.11/3.12, AusLCI, BAFU, Carbon Minds), reducing post-import correction needs.

  • Access all licensed data dynamically: data access now uses a dynamic approach throughout mapping, suggestions, search, and datalist additions, so the interface only shows data covered by the user's licence. Users can choose which datalist to add data to, or create a new one directly, from the datalist selection dialog.

  • Search only what's relevant: database filtering in search can now be limited to datapoints already in the user's own datalists.

  • Group and ungroup rows in bulk: users can select all rows at once during the combine step, instead of one by one, speeding up large imports.

  • Import template errors are flagged early: the import template now highlights problem cells as soon as they're detected, before they can cause a failed import, and guides users to a resolution.

Work with separate, focused tools for INIES and PEP ecopassport workflows

The INIES and PEP ecopassport tools are now two distinct tools, each aligned with its own reporting requirements for greater clarity.

INIES tool updates include:

  • Removal of functional unit conversion (not relevant for INIES)

  • Removal of PEP-specific and irrelevant questions

  • Updated queries to better match the FDES report, including an updated material composition table

  • EN 15804+A2 data and results only (EN 15804+A1 is no longer available)

  • Updated FDES and Background reports

PEP ecopassport tool updates include:

  • Removal of INIES-specific and irrelevant questions

  • A new PEP Excel export

Improve data quality and compliance accuracy across EPD Hub tools

Several improvements have been made across all Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Hub tools:

  • Manufacturing energy and waste dropdown labels have been updated for clarity and consistency

  • "Certified green energy" wording has been updated to "certified renewable energy"

  • Electricity consumption mix (without renewables) datapoints are now available in A1 and A5 sections, in addition to A3, where they were previously available

Accurately report net resource consumption for B4 replacement in E2E tools

The B4 Total calculation in E2E tools now subtracts reused material quantities, reflecting net resource consumption rather than gross volume. This affects both main results and PEP results.

Generate cleaner reports with automatic empty field handling

Blank cells in EPD report generation are now replaced with "-", removing the need to manually edit generated reports before publishing.

Local updates

Norway: Align CD3D reference buildings with updated DFØ 2023 and 2026 standards

The updates include:

  • Created DFØ-specific data points to better align material impacts with both the DFØ 2023 and DFØ 2026 A1–A3 reference values. Relevant datapoints are also available in the LCA tools.

  • Updated the DFØ 2023 reference building with the 2023 Reference A1–A3 datasets

  • Created a new DFØ 2026 reference building using the 2026 Reference A1–A3 datasets

  • Introduced a new column-and-beam structural frame aligned with the DFØ specifications. This is now the default structural frame for DFØ reference buildings.

France: Keep RE2020 compliance up to date with refrigerant, INIES XML data, and threshold updates

The RE2020 workflow has been updated to stay aligned with current regulatory requirements. Changes include:

  • A new input for refrigerant use not accounted for in materials, relevant mainly for default "lot forfaitaire 8.1" and systems with additional refrigerant load such as VRF. Refrigerant data previously entered through "lot forfaitaire" additional refrigerant data moves to the Refrigerant input page automatically, with no action needed.

  • Private INIES XML data ("fiches configurées") can no longer be used beyond its expiry date.

  • Updated threshold handling for buildings with zones of different usages within the same usage group.

Note: existing results remain correct until a user recalculates a project. When recalculating any RE2020 project, users should retrigger the thresholds calculation first; otherwise, recalculated results will be incorrect. This applies to all RE2020 projects, including those not affected by the changes above. In-app guidance is provided to French users.

Australia: Support Australian concrete EPD workflows in the CET tool

New Australian-specific fields are now available in the CET tool for users with an Australian licence:

  • A new Applications dropdown with 18 options, covering decorative, shotcrete, paving, and other types

  • Optional performance parameters, including SCC flow, HWC indicator, shrinkage, and early-age target

  • The Australian Report has been updated to include these fields.

Australia: Updated Australian reference building in Carbon Designer 3D to align with EN15804+A2

Carbon Designer 3D now includes EN 15804+A2 data in the Australian reference building. Users can now assess Australian projects using tools that require datasets with PEF data properties, improving compatibility across the platform.

Database updates

The database now includes 74,482 new EPDs, including 60,433 from Schneider Electric, and 3,160 new industry generic datasets. The new generic datasets are mostly from Baubook and Infra-CO2. These additions improve regional accuracy and strengthen early-stage modeling where verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are limited.

These new generics cover machine operations used in railway works, filling a data gap for infrastructure life cycle assessments in this category.

Expand Schneider Electric EPD coverage past 100,000 declarations

One Click LCA also refreshes around 40,000 existing Schneider Electric EPDs. With the new EPDs added above, Schneider Electric's total EPD count in the database now exceeds 100,000, most of which carry Schneider Electric's internal verification. This gives users detailed, verified visibility into Schneider Electric's supply chain at a scale few manufacturers currently match on the platform.
